There are lots of ways to get involved in serving the community through UCC Petaluma. Here are a few...
Through our ecumenical food pantry, we provide supplemental groceries to 50-60 families per week. We founded the pantry in 2003, when it became clear that there were limited options for food assistance in Petaluma. Happily, since this time, the situation has improved with the addition of 2 more weekly pantries modeled after ours, involving more faith communities, and the founding of Petaluma Bounty, whose work we support. At this point, families in need can find multiple sources of assistance, and receive healthy, fresh food at no cost.
We work with COTS to help with at home food deliveries each week for families unable to get to our pantry. Our members rotate through the month.
We believe that it is not enough to feed the hungry, we should also be asking why our society allows people to go hungry. Through the North Bay Sponsoring Committee, we are organizing with other local congregations to work with our elected officials on solutions to challenges facing our community.

Our garden is thriving this summer thanks to the hard work of our members and kids. Each week we deliver pounds of just-picked, chemical-free produce to the food pantry. Our kids are growing pumpkins for halloween. A giant flower bed provides fresh picked flowers for homebound and hospitalized members. We're committed to a theology that honors the earth, and our garden is one way we put that theology into practice!
